Brabo Antwerp

The Brabo Fountain by Jef Lambeaux rises in Antwerp’s heart, a dramatic swirl of myth cast in bronze and motion. At its peak, the Roman soldier Brabo stands triumphant, hurling the severed hand of the giant Antigoon into the Scheldt River below. Muscles tense, cloak fluttering, he embodies justice delivered with fearless flair. The fountain’s base teems with writhing figures, water bursting like captured energy around them. Lambeaux sculpted each detail with baroque intensity, blending legend and heroism into fluid form. The statue tells a story of liberation, rooted in local lore, made eternal in metal.
